Today I spent a large amount of the day in bed as I was struck with sinusitus causing a severe headache. After cannelling an assignment I decided to go to the doctor's office at the local hospital as the pain was increasing and I could hardly get some sleep.

At arrival I did a small intake at the nurse's reception and she told me it would take about an hour so I decided to go out for some fresh air because the hospital was a bit too hot for my condition.

While walking up to my car someone stopped and asked me in a bit broken Dutch if I could take him to hospital on the other side of town cause he got a prescription with medication for his ill daughter. Turned out that he had no money to get across town and since it was past 11 pm there were hardly any buses driving that way.

Being a father of 2 and knowing what it feels like to be without any money I felt sympathy for the young man and I decided to bring him to the hospital to get the medication for his daughter.

While driving we spoke about his and my life. He told me that he has been living in The Netherlands for 13 years and that he originally came from the beautiful city of Boedapest, the capitol of Hungary. He is working as a cleaner to provide for his wife and daughter but said he was hardly meeting end as the employment agency is always late with paying and gives a rather small salary for the 3 days of weekly work.

As we drove I prayed a silent prayer what I could do for him and I sensed that work was something he could use help with. So a couple of minutes later he asked me if I knew anything to let him know. If you read this and you of any job availabilities in Haarlem please send me a message or leave a comment!

When we got to the hospital he got the medicine for his daughter and I drove him to his own appartment. Before that I went to the gas station to fill up the tank and I got some extra cash for him and his family. He offered to give me his watch before as I think he was looking for a way to thank but I kindly thanked him as I felt that the Lord wanted me to bless him instead.

When I gave him the money he was really thankful and I pray and hope that God is going to turn his situation around real quick! After getting back to the hospital I got my own prescription for medication and went to the other side of town to get it. Now I'm home, everyone's asleep and I took my medication and I feel so much better...

I really think that the Lord inspired to get out of the house so I could help this young man. All the good things that we do will make a difference troughout history and the lifes of people that we meet and get to be good too.

I hope you're inspired by my little midnight adventure and hope to hear from You :) !

God Bless,

Rivelino

Check out the pre-mix of the song that I wrote and recorded 'God is niet Wit'. Taped it last Sunday @ The Illness Productions Studio of Ill Skillzz. The beat was produced by beatcreator DinoBeatz from Sweden, a production that perfectly suits the subject!

'God is niet Wit' is a song that I wrote to remember 150 years of Abolishment of Slavery in Suriname, my motherland and on the Dutch Antilles, both former Dutch Colonies. In the book with the same name by Gea Gort & Eva Mabayoje, we discuss the role of the Dutch church during the Transatlantic Slavetrade and why they were so quiet about it and sometimes even profiting and engaging in the slavery.  Check out the track below..

Check out the lyrics that I wrote for my new song 'God is niet Wit' (God is not white) , inspired by the book with the same name. In Dutch and a cool video + studio version are coming up as well!

Verse 1
Uh, God is niet wit
Bloedrood lam
Heeft de zonde uitgewist
Zwartroet, slavernijverleden

This Monday the 25th of March, the bookpresentation of 'God is niet Wit' (God is not white) took place at the 'Nazarener Kerk' in Rotterdam. A diverse crowd with people from several segments of society showed up to the event!

The presentation was a big success with a sometimes heated debate.  Eva and Gea handed the first copy of the book to Stan Uyland, director of Gids Netwerk, a networking organisation that aims at uniting leaders. Gids Netwerk is also the organisation that helped fund this book. I did the live premiere of the rapsong 'God is niet Wit' and got good responses from the audience! Yesterday I also got the good news that Arkmedia, the publisher of the book, are funding the musicvideo and studio recording, yay!

I've added some photos of the presentation night and I will add the lyrics in a next post too...

With great pride I pronounce that I'm part of the bookpresentation for the book 'God is niet Wit', literally translated 'God is not White'. This year it's 150 years ago that slavery was abolished in my fatherland, Suriname. As a former colony of the Netherlands you can still see the remains of that reign in every day life, from the dutch languange to the schools and history books and that's where we want to aim our attention.

The history of the dutch colonists hasn't been rightly told to my opinion as they were portrayed as mere trade heroes while in my opinion they stole, abused and misled my ancestors which is not told in the history books. My good friends Eva Mabayoje and Gea Gort thought of it as their duty to tell the right story. In doing so they wrote this book, which I had the privilege of telling my story in an interview, tomorrow, the 25th of March 2013 is the presentation at the Nazarener Church in Rotterdam.

I wrote a special rap for this occassion which I will perform live at the event, be there if you can!
